The comedian pledges on Twitter to donate thousands to charity - if no one responds to his tweet.
He explained to Stewart "the charity game", which he played again overnight.
Ricky Gervais is a divisive figure, on Twitter and off it, but it's hard not to chuckle at this exercise.
There are presumably a good few dozen bots devoted to retweeting Gervaisisms, so the pledge was never achievable, but not 454 of them. (The first two tweets appear, for some reason to have been since deleted.)
