Vice News has put together a short video of America's powerful female politicians telling us how they broke the glass ceiling.

LS3316_69_SUP_Online-1THE PENINSULA: There’s a lot of news out there if you have the bandwidth: Al Jazeera streams live on YouTube and there is a ton of video to browse, too. The channel is Al Jazeera English. Reporters are also covering the Rio Olympics with bite-sized stories. The BBC, CNN and Fox are also on YouTube; for a bit of respite from the world of bad news, how about the BBC’s Just Good News channel.

HERSTORY BEING MADE: The craziness of the US presidential election process is largely obscuring the historic nature of the occasion: Hillary Clinton has become the first female nominee for the most powerful job in the US. Women are still poorly represented in US government, although there have been many trailblazers. Vice News has put together a short video featuring four women in Washington.

SVOD HIGHLIGHT: What’s good in subscription video on demand. Daring, darkly fascinating, multi-layered – psychological NSFW drama The Girlfriend Experience, on Sky on-demand platform Neon, has been called all these things. Elvis’s granddaughter, Riley Keough, plays a student who moonlights as a call girl, and the showrunners are independent film-makers Amy Seimetz and Lodge Kerrigan.
