Something a bit different
Māori flavours fuse with modern New Zealand cuisine at Bush Kai feast with Taonga Pūoro, where chef Nic Spicer and bush kai enthusiast Leon Hemi plate up locality, accompanied by music and commentary from acclaimed Māori musician Rob Thorne.
Foraging and seasonality are also brought into sharp focus at Roots in the Capital – a one-night-only degustation by Giulio Sturla of award-winning Lyttelton restaurant Roots.

Wellington food rescue charity Kaibosh’s annual sell-out event All Taste, No Waste (above left) returns this year, with Logan Brown’s Shaun Clouston bringing fine dining flair to commonly ignored and underused ingredients. Each ticket purchased for the two-night dinner event goes towards a special dinner for those who regularly receive Kaibosh’s services.
Also making a return is Martin Bosley’s Rimutaka Prison Gate to Plate dinner (above right), which highlights some of the talent hidden in our prisons, and the potential for positive outcomes when the community supports prisoners. Inmates cater a three-course dinner with canapes (served with non-alcoholic beverages) under the mentorship of Bosley and two guest chefs.
